Jeremiah Delcour Perseveres and Wins an Award for His Commitment to the Team

When Jeremiah Delcour commits to something, he follows through. Despite injuries that kept him sidelined for the past two seasons, Jeremiah finished out his third year on the team strong, showing up to team practices at Sweat Studio to cheer his teammates on and keep their water bottles filled.

Delcour earned the Jim Rogers award this year for this perseverance, an award that recognizes bicyclists who go above and beyond to encourage and support fellow cyclists. “It got me through the isolation after surgery,” said Delcour. “I was taught when you start something, you finish it, even if you can’t finish it the way you wanted to.”

Delcour originally joined the Miners MTB team during COVID, after baseball was cancelled. He loved working out in nature, and riding with people who were better than him because it made him a better rider. He was not a rider before he joined the team, but didn’t let his lack of experience stop him. “My first year, kids had way more expensive bikes than me, had their friend groups,” he said. “I didn’t go to NU, didn’t know a lot of people. There were a lot of big personalities – I was intimidated. They took me in, taught me how to ride.”

When he isn’t riding with the team or helping out, Delcour can be found working on his 15-acre family homestead, mending fences or taking care of cows and chickens. He will attend Oklahoma Christian University in the Fall, following in the footsteps of his father and brother.
