All about the riding.
All about the stoke.
Our Team
Our team is made up of student-athletes from all over the Grass Valley & Nevada City area. All skill levels are welcome, and while we train for and participate in NorCal League races, we welcome any student who wants to learn more about mountain biking in a positive, supportive environment.
We were a charter member of the Northern California High School Mountain Bike League and have been at it since 2001. We’re excited to support the Norcal GRiT program (Girls Riding Together) and we’re always amazed at the good energy our athletes and coaches bring to the table.
We ride all over Nevada County in all kinds of weather. While our main focus is XC/Trail riding, we do like to mix it up with some technical/downhill riding, and even gravel rides. During especially bad rain or snow weather, we take our training inside to the Cycling Studio at Sweat, Nevada County.
If you’re new to mountain biking, we encourage you to give it a try. Starting at the beginning of the season is the best way to do it. You’ll have lots of opportunities to learn while you build your endurance - and you won’t be alone.
The Middle School/Jr. Development Program
For the 2021/2022 season the NorCal League began the Jr. Development program to extend their scope of cycling to include 6th-8th graders. In that season and last season we allowed 6th-8th graders to ride with us, provided they had a letter of recommendation from someone in the cycling community.
New This Year! We are accepting ALL middle school (6th-8th grade) athletes regardless of prior experience. This program will focus on building cycling skills, endurance, and friendships, all part of the foundation of life long cyclists. The fringe benefit of this will be preparing to ride with the High School Athletes as well as compete against other 6th-8th grade athletes at all of the NorCal League races.
These rides are tailored for 6th-8th graders on moderate trails to start to allow focus on fundamentals rather then hucking. It will be focused on building skills, endurance, and friendships that can carry over into the rest of their cycling lives. Just as with our High School athletes, ahtletes in this program are not expected to compete in the NorCal League race series, although we encourage everyone to give it a shot. For riders that show the drive and the skills to keep up with our High School athletes there is the opportunity for them to “level-up” and join those rides.
Our Season
We start our pre-season in November with weekly rides and a team skills campout.
The official NorCal League season runs December-May, with races scheduled Feb-May in various locations (to be announced) in Northern California. In order to continue to ride through the winter we do go on night rides and appropriate lights are required (one 1000 lumen front light (Minimum) and one red tail light).
Practices are mandatory and racing is encouraged but not required. In this vein we do have many multi-sport athletes and fully support their participation in activities outside of cycling. We require that our multi-sport/multi-activity athletes keep us in the loop so we know they are still committed to participation.
We have scholarships and loaner bikes available upon request.
